Redes Neurais para Interpretar o Sinal de Neutrinos de Supernovas do Colapso de Estrelas Massivas

Estrelas massivas terminam sua "vida" com um colapso do seu núcleo, dando origem a uma protoestrela de nêutrons e em muitos casos uma explosão conhecida como supernova. Se uma supernova do colapso do núcleo de uma estrela massiva ocorrer na Via-Láctea ou em uma galáxia próxima, milhares a milhões de neutrinos serão detectados na Terra em um intervalo de alguns segundos. Neste trabalho treinamos uma rede neural tipo LSTM (Long short-term memory ou memória de curto longo prazo) para relacionar a evolução temporal da massa gravitacional de uma protoestrela de nêutrons aos neutrinos que esta emite nos primeiros dois segundos após o seu surgimento. Os dados de emissão de neutrinos foram obtidos de simulações numéricas de colapso do núcleo de estrelas massivas com simetria esférica (1D) para 18 estrelas progenitoras, duas equações de estado e dois fatores de aquecimento que emulam efeitos multidimensionais em simulações 1D. Testamos a nossa rede LSTM em dados de 49 simulações que não foram utilizadas no treinamento e demonstramos que, em 18 estrelas, a rede neural é capaz de reproduzir a evolução da massa gravitacional da protoestrela de nêutrons com desvios pequenos ($R^2 \gtrsim \num{0.80}$). Discutimos aprimoramentos que ainda podem ser feitos para a rede neural a fim de que esta possa ser utilizada em futuras detecções. Até o momento, este é o primeiro trabalho desse tipo na literatura e serve como parametrização para futuros trabalhos.
