Abstract

This visual-photographic essay explores natural dyeing in Kusijata (Lake Titicaca, Bolivia) as a form of knowledge known as “witchcraft.” It is understood as *poiesis*, where matter, intuition, and creation intertwine. The text describes a practice guided by experience, the surrounding landscapes, and fixed measurements. It questions the colonial delegitimization of this practice and highlights its communal dimension. It concludes that this constitutes a sensitive relationship with the environment for the purpose of creation

Author Biography

  • Paola Tamara Videa Aramayo, Federal University of Espírito Santo, Postgraduate Program in Arts

    Literature professional, researcher, educator, and self-taught artist. She works with Bolivian poetry, audiovisual production, and educational and social projects—integrating art, research, and social engagement—as well as initiatives focused on environmental awareness. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Arts in Brazil on a scholarship. She works under the artistic pseudonym Asmara Vibeka and has received academic and cultural recognition.
