This article aims to present concepts and reflections regarding the teaching of the Portuguese Language within the context of the "Education 10 Years Policy" (Política de Educação 10 anos) launched by the Mato Grosso State Department of Education in 2022. The objective is to present the articulations described in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions of the "Education 10 Years Workbook" and its 30 goals. The study is conducted within the scope of policies 1 and 5 of the 1st edition workbook, which are specifically focused on the Portuguese teaching process. It is based on the studies of Antunes (2007), Labov translated by Bagno (2008), Magda Soares (2023), Faraco and Zilles (2015), Ball and Bowe (1992), Foucault (2003), Cyranka (2016), and Bortoni-Ricardo and Almeida (2023), among others. In the study of the documents produced for the Education 10 Years Program, we outline reflections on the variationist issue and educational perspectives for MT, through both the sociolinguistic approach and the concept of the policy cycle in Ball and Bowe (1992), linguistic textuality in Koch; Travaglia (2015) and power relations in Foucault (2003). The idea is to contribute to language research with a critical look at MT's educational policy.
