REFLEXÕES SOBRE A RELAÇÃO INDIVÍDUO X CIVILIZAÇÃO NA SOCIEDADE ATUAL

Pensar a relação entre indivíduo e civilização é o objetivo maior deste artigo. Parece existir, nessa relação, um conflito básico entre as aspirações individuais e as coerções sociais que existem para enquadrar os indivíduos como seres sociais. Na atual configuração social, o individualismo caminha pari passu com a anulação das individualidades acometida pela indústria cultural, a qual passa a “gerir” os gostos, desejos e aspirações de grande parte das pessoas. Para entender este contexto com mais profundidade faz-se uso, aqui, especialmente do pensamento Sigmund Freud, o qual se tornou uma referência necessária para entender a formação do ego em meio a uma civilização que, entre outras coisas, acaba por causar um mal-estar entre o que as pessoas desejam, enquanto indivíduos, e o que elas podem realizar, enquanto seres sociais. Além de Freud, a análise se pautará nas reflexões da Teoria Crítica sobre a indústria cultural e nos pensamentos de Aristóteles e Thomas Hobbes sobre natureza humana e social.

ABSTRACT

Thinking about the relationship between individual and civilization is the main objective of this article. It exists, in this relationship, a basic conflict between individual aspirations and social casts that exist for fit individuals as social beings. In the current social setting, individualism walks pari passu with cancellation of individuals affected by the cultural industry, which happens to “manage” the tastes, desires and aspirations of most people. To understand this context with more depth, use is made here, especially of Sigmund Freud, which became a reference needed to understand the formation of the ego in the midst of a civilisation that, among other things, turns out to cause malaise between what people want, as individuals, and what they can accomplish, as social beings. In addition to Freud, the analysis is run on the reflections of Critical Theory on the cultural industry and the thoughts of Aristotle and Thomas Hobbes on human and social nature.
