EDUCAÇÃO, MUDANÇA, CONFORTO E VULNERABILIDADE SOCIAL – ANALISANDO ARTIGOS DE OPINIÃO PUBLICADOS NA FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO

RESUMO

Este artigo tem como objetivo pensar a função social da educação no Brasil a partir da análise crítica de alguns ensaios publicados na imprensa em 2006. Existem duas propostas. A primeira sustenta que a educação é o mecanismo básico de mudança social: se os alunos forem bem preparados, as coisas irão bem. A segunda proposta sustenta que a educação é uma das possíveis estratégias para a construção de uma sociedade mais justa. Para melhor compreender a adesão social ao projeto educativo, faz-se necessária a incorporação do conceito de vulnerabilidade social.

ABSTRACT

This article aims to think about the social function of education in Brazil through the critical analysis of some essays published in the press in 2006. There are two main proposals concerning education as social fact. The first one sustains that education is the basic mechanism of social change: once students are well qualified, things will go well. To the second one sustains that education is one of the possible strategies to construct a better society. To better understand the social involvement into the educational project, it is necessary to incorporate the concept of social vulnerability.
