Abstract

Review of the book 15 anos: Geografias da Comunicação: orientações teóricas e metodológicas do percurso, edited by Sonia Virgínia Moreira, Maria José Baldessar, Daniela Cristiane Ota, Roberta Brandalise, Jacqueline da Silva Deolindo, and Paulo Celso da Silva. The collection brings together texts produced between 2008 and 2023 and documents the consolidation of Geographies of Communication as an interdisciplinary field situated at the intersection of geography and communication. Throughout the chapters, topics such as territory, region, border, networks, digital cartography, journalism, information, and media territorialities are discussed. It is argued that the work’s main contribution lies in the construction of a research agenda capable of articulating the spatial dimensions of communication and the communicational dimensions of geographic space, thereby expanding the possibilities for dialogue between the two fields.

Author Biography

  • Paulo Antônio de Sousa Marquêz, Universidade de Sorocaba

    Paulo Marquêz is a public relations specialist with a PhD and a Master’s degree in Communication and Culture from the University of Sorocaba (Uniso). A public servant, he coordinates the Innovation Lab “LabLeg” at the City Council of Sorocaba. He works with public communication, citizen participation, plain language, and innovation. He writes and reflects on the city we have and how to build the one we want—for everyone.
