Introduction: The therapeutic use of nature has played a crucial role in health over the centuries. Numerous plants have been used in the treatment of oral diseases. In this sense, Malva sylvestris has stood out for its important properties for the treatment of various oral pathologies. Objectives: The objective of the study was to understand the therapeutic applications of the M. sylvestris plant in Dentistry. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, covering a bibliographic search on the electronic portal PubMed, in the Science Direct and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences database, in the scientific repository Scientific Electronic Library Online and on Google Academic by combining the descriptor “Dentistry” with the following meSH descriptors: “Malva sylvestris” and “Phytotherapy”. Results: The applications of the M. sylvestris plant had notable representation in Dentistry for its antimicrobial action in relation to bacteria present in the oral cavity environment, use of the product Malvatricin® Plus and topical administration route. The in vitro experimental model was predominant, in a follow-up period representing the majority for five days. Conclusion: M. sylvestris is recognized in Dentistry for its antimicrobial properties. However, the need for standardized long-term clinical research to determine safe dosage, side effects and interactions with other medications is highlighted.
