Between housing and conservation
reflections on the way of living in the midst of climate collapses
Abstract
Multiple intersections are necessary to think about the transformations of the Earth arising from certain human activities. The crisis, collapse or climate catastrophe has many nuances and needs different perceptions to understand the fragmentation of lives caused by progress and development. From that, each way of inhabiting the Globe had and still has a different impact when one thinks about these changes. The divisions made to frame certain corporalities in different spaces is one of the reflections that fit into this discussion when we think about the relationship between habitat and degradation/conservation. Thus, the aim of this essay is to seek approaches and distances in the ways of inhabiting organically and artificially constructed structures, as well as to reflect on these attitudes when associated with the notion of preservation of what remains and the invention of untouchable havens as a solution to the lack of "natural" in urban everyday life. Through a literature review and dialogue with authors who address themes related to the Anthropocene and other related terminologies, I can bring anthropology back to life by considering its importance for these discussions.
