Cultura política e adesão à hipótese de um governo militar no Brasil: um estudo a partir dos dados do Latinobarômetro (2020)
Abstract
The general purpose of this article is to comparatively examine, from the perspective of political culture and public opinion, the potential differences between individuals who support and those who oppose the notion of a military government in Brazil. For this study, we employed quantitative and descriptive methodology, utilizing the 2020 Latinobarómetro database as a primary source. We conducted cross-analyses among various questions to implement the proposal outlined in this article. The dependent variable was the hypothesis of support for a military government in the country, while the independent variables included the assessment of the country's economic situation; level of satisfaction with democracy; trust in the Military Forces; trust in the National Congress; trust in the country’s government; trust in political parties; trust in the country’s electoral institution – in this case, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE); trust in the media; self-positioning in the left-right scale; perception of Jair Bolsonaro. The research’s result indicated as statistically relevant dimensions: the economy’s evaluation; satisfaction with democracy; trust in the Military Forces; trust in the government; trust in the media; self-positioning in the left-right scale; and perception of Bolsonaro.
