Voiced interpretation from Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) into Portuguese constitutes a complex activity involving not only linguistic transposition across distinct modalities (visual-spatial and oral-auditory), but also sophisticated cognitive and pragmatic processes. In this context, Cognitive Linguistics (Ferrari, 2020; Lakoff & Johnson, 2002; Langacker, 2008) provides a theoretical framework for understanding dynamic meaning construction based on conceptual structures and interpretive competencies (Machado, 2017a), while Pragmatics (Grice, 1982; Lins, 2008) supports the analysis of context, communicative intention, and conversational implicatures in real interactions. This paper examines the interface between Cognitive Semantics and Pragmatics in the voiced interpretation performed by a guide-interpreter working with a deafblind person, highlighting how the interactional setting and cognitive efforts shape interpretive choices and conversational maxims.
