Abstract

The areas of sugarcane cultivation have expanding, often at the expense of the agricultural and pasture areas. Under this perspective, this manuscript aims to present a methodological guide in order to identify and to map up the areas of sugarcane cultivation, whose unity of analysis was located in the surrounding area of the Rio Brilhante hydrographic basin. We aimed to identify the changes through TM-Landsat5 and OLI-Landsat8 satellite pictures by comparing the scenarios from the years of 2001 and 2015, respectively. The classification of the vegetation was made through the technique of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). Thus, this study points that the use of some techniques and remote sensing tools, like NDVI, when used together with the field research, are extremely efficient for identifying the areas of the sugarcane cultivation.

Mestranda do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados. Desenvolve pesquisa na área de geotecnologias, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: análise de bacias hidrográficas sobre o uso e a dinâmica de ocupação das terras.

Pós-doutoramento em Geografia (2014) pelo Departamento de Geografia da Unesp de Presidente Prudente. Doutorado em Geografia pelo Instituo de Geociências da Unicamp (2006), área de concentração Análise Ambiental e Dinâmica Territorial. Mestrado em Geociências (2001) pelo Instituto de Geociências e Ciências Exatas da Universidade Estadual Paulista, Campus de Rio Claro, na área de concentração Geociências e Meio Ambiente. Graduado em Geografia nas modalidades Bacharel em Geografia (1996) e Licenciado em Geografia (1997). Docente desde 1998, atuando em cursos de Geografia e Turismo. Atualmente compõe o quadro de docentes e pesquisadores do Curso de Graduação em Geografia e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados. Orientador de mestrado e doutorado do PPGG/UFGD. Tutor do PET-Geografia da UFGD desde agosto de 2016. Exerce o cargo de Diretor Tesoureiro da ANPEGE (Associação Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Geografia - Gestões 2011/2013; 2014/2015 e 2016/2017). Atuou como Diretor Tesoureiro e Diretor Presidente da ABClima (Associação Brasileira de Climatologia), respectivamente nas gestões 2010/2012 e 2012/2014.
