The aim of this article is to examine Vigotski's contributions to the educational processes of children, based on the conceptions of his cultural-historical theory, highlighting the role of social interactions in the cultural scenario, with regard to children's development. The aim is to show children as social protagonists, in their relationships established between peers, in the production and appropriation of culture. The aim is to discuss the concepts of the Zone of Proximal Development, teacher mediation in pedagogical actions and the importance of language in the teaching-learning processes of children, using Vygotskian concepts. Through the results of the research, evidenced in his theories, we will discuss, in the light of this author, the development of childhoods, through collaborative methodologies, where play and interactions act as essential elements in the composition of cognitive and social skills. At the end of this communication, we will highlight the relevance of ideas from Vygotsky's point of view today, related to pedagogical activities that provide practical learning, based on the pillars of mediation.
