Introduction: Although abortion in Brazil is not considered a crime in cases of risk to maternal life, rape, and anencephalic fetuses, many women encounter barriers in the legal and assistance system to perform an abortion. Objective: To describe the clinical and sociodemographic profile of women who underwent a legal abortion, between March 2018 and September 2020. Methods: A retrospective cohort study with the inclusion of all patients who had interrupted pregnancy for legal reasons. Patients who suffered spontaneous abortion and patients who carried out full-term pregnancies were excluded. Results: 39 patients were found. The average gestational age was 16 weeks and six days. Eighteen patients were primiparous. The average age was 24.5 years, with three being 14 years old. Six patients had complications. Two rapid positive syphilis tests were found. Conclusion: The results are consistent with the literature when detailing a vulnerable population. It was found in this study to be a young population, primiparous, single, with low education Having a detailed profile of these pregnant women is of paramount importance for public policy planning to properly and humanely guide patients who present this demand.
