This research is about the ritual of blessing as a popular healing practice, based on the life experiences of three women benzedeiras from the village of Piaçava, located in the municipality of Nazaré, in the far north of Tocantins. The aim of this article is to analyze the practices of benzimento based on the experiences of women benzedeiras from Povoado Piaçava and how this knowledge is perpetuated today. It seeks to identify the practice of blessing as a healing ritual, highlighting through the oral narratives of the women benzedeiras how blessings occur in the daily life of the village and how this knowledge is passed on to future generations. The methodological approaches are guided by qualitative research, using oral life history, participant observation and exploratory interviews. This study highlights the importance of the healing ritual and the knowledge exercised by the benzedeiras in perpetuating a tradition.
