an analysis of the public problems from the residents of downtown Vitória-ES

This article leans over the narratives of a group of political actors in their current, or past, social trajectories on projects of intervention over public spaces of the central region of Vitória, capital of the state of Espírito Santo. This narratives point towards the centrality of the affectionateness and the colective memories on the elaboration of the meanings of the expressed places and that they mobilize these actors involvement. The interviews, made with residents and former residents, aim to comprehend their trajectories on community mobilization practices that composse the public arena that defines the problems of the neighborhood and region. Those were analised by the method of the grounded theory (Strauss & Corbin, 1990) under the perspective of the sociology of the public problems (Cefaï, 2017 ; 2011a; 2011b). Therefore we resort to collected data athwart the observation of etnographic inspiration and conduction of semi-structured interviews. By the end, we realize that the downtown area of Vitória, Espírito Santo, is not merely a place where people live, but a space for social interaction, cultural enrichment, and, consequently, political action.
