Aspectos da noção de causalidade em João Duns Escoto

Um dos elementos mais fundamentais e complexos na filosofia de João Duns Escoto é a doutrina da causalidade. Em poucas palavras, sua centralidade se deve ao fato de que, para este último, toda a ordem do mundo pode ser compreendida a partir das relações de causa e efeito, que perpassam todos os entes. Esse caráter fundamentalmente metafísico da noção de causalidade será um primeiro tema de nosso estudo. Em seguida, atentaremos para dois outros aspectos da causalidade na filosofia do Doutor Sutil: a noção de causalidade concorrente e o problema da causalidade de algo sobre si mesmo. Com isso, espero fornecer uma exposição acurada de alguns dos aspectos mais relevantes da doutrina da causalidade em Duns Escoto.
