About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Temporalis is a magazine created in 2000, with semi-annual publication, edited by the Brazilian Association of Teaching and Research in Social Service (ABEPSS) is intended for the publication of scientific papers on current and relevant topics in the Social Service and related areas covering teaching, research, extension and professional practice. It has A1 classification by Qualis-Periódicos. The Journal is an refereed, indexed journal of national and international circulation.

It is encouraged that the topics covered in the journal are linked to the debates held within the framework of the Thematic Research Groups (GTP) linked to ABEPSS. These are: Labor, Social Issue and Social Service; Social Policy and Social Service; Social Service: Foundations, Training and Professional Work; Social Movements and Social Service; Agrarian, Urban, Environmental and Social Service Issues; Social Service, Exploitation/Gender Oppression Relations, Feminisms, Race/Ethnicity and Sexualities; Ethics, Human Rights and Social Service; Social Service, Generation and Social Classes. The menus of each of the GTP are available on the ABEPSS. website.

The journal publishes reviews, articles of free subjects, thematic section, theoretical essay, research results and extension and teaching experiences. Submissions can be made in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French.  

Those interested in publishing articles in Temporalis should submit, in a continuous flow, original scientific papers containing relevant studies, research and debates and present considerable contribution to the scientific production in the area of Social Service.

Temporalis does not remunerate and does not charge the authors who have published their work in it.

Peer Review Process

The papers submitted for publication, after initial analysis of the editorial committee regarding the adequacy to the rules of the journal, will be analyzed by ad hoc referees, who will arbitrate on the relevance, or not, of their acceptance and may suggest reformulations or adaptations to the editorial standards.

During the analysis, rigor and accuracy regarding scientific production, writing, content and ethical-theoretical probity will be verified. Any changes to the structure and content will be agreed with the authors. No additions or amendments to the text will be admitted after its evaluation and final acceptance.

The evaluation of scientific merit shall be made taking into account the following criteria:

  1. relevance of the work in relation to the editorial line of the Journal;
  2. linguistic quality, considering clarity and correctness in communication;
  3. theoretical basis, link to the Social Service area or related, originality and relevance of the contribution to the production of knowledge;
  4. structure: summary, introduction, development and conclusion;
  5. compliance with the standards for presentation of work specified in Guidelines for authors.

The final decision on the publication of the received papers will be made by the editorial committee based on the journal’s editorial plan. The papers submitted for publication, when not accepted, will be at the disposal of the authors.

The analyses presented in the papers, as well as the accuracy, appropriateness and provenance of the citations and references, are the sole responsibility of the authors(s), not necessarily reflecting the position of the editorial committee.

The editorial committee ensures, for the authors and also for the evaluators, anonymity in the evaluation process, enabling confidentiality regarding participation.

This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge.
