Migrations, as a concrete process of reality, have very particular and plural perspectives and dimensions: if we consider the expectations of migrants, we obtain one set of interpretations; if we approach the issue from the viewpoint of the State or the media, or even society, new perspectives and new readings emerge. The aim here is to contribute to new interpretations of migration, first through a geographical lens, second through the lens of multiplicity, and third through a critical social theory of the desire to migrate. The desire to migrate is approached here as an inherently political construction that drives strategies of mobility and permanence. Thus, from a spatial perspective, the intention is to understand and advance the debate on the geographies of migration, overcoming theoretical and methodological difficulties.
