Abstract

Publisher The geography of the pandemic: in-between place of existential illness.

We live in a pandemic world. The disease is lurking behind the hug, in a friendly chatter and the closeness between us. The universally and spatially differentiated disease affects us all, not only statistical but singularly.

This dossier emerges as an attempt to understand our current plight in which we necessarily failed. Some figures were transformed in escapist lines that brought confrontation within our reach in face of these “blockaded access future”, where the body – the personal and the aggregate, in different communal places – screams at the top of lungs or remains silent in a fierce pursuit of life, cutting off these pandemic geographies of feverish horizons. It is in this abysmal situation that geographical representations are reestablished, coupled with experienced landscapes, lost territories, and all those original space-time projects.

Author Biography

Wallace Wagner Rodrigues Pantoja, Instituto Federal do Pará

Professor do Instituto Federal do Pará - Campus Belém. Doutor em Geografia pela Universidade de Brasília - UnB (2018). Mestre em Geografia pela Universidade Federal do Pará - UFPA (2011). Bacharel e Licenciado em Geografia - UFPA (2005). Atualmente em estágio pós-doutoral no Programa de Pós-graduação em Geografia da UFPA. Atuou como professor na Secretaria de Educação do Pará (2008-2020), Universidade da Amazônia (2012-2013), IFPA Campus Tucuruí - via Programa Nacional de Formação de Professores (2012-2014) e Universidade de Brasília (2015-2017). Tem experiência na área de Geografia e Estudos Amazônicos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Geografia Cultural, Geografia e Religião,Teoria e Método Fenomenológico-existencial; Metodologia do Ensino da Geografia, Geocartografia, Educação do/em Campo, Lugar/Lugaridade e Cinema Documental.
