To know the trajectory of puerperae from a maternity hospital in the state of Amazonas who experience the process of contraindication to breastfeeding. The method was the oral history of life with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through a formal and focused interview that occurred with 04 puerperae in the period from July to October 2017. To analyze the data, the discourse analysis technique was used. Structures called Meaning Units were identified, in which the speeches were separated by categories and grouped according to their meaning. Four categories were identified in the statements of the interviewees: The reception; Impotence; Sadness; The caregivers. Knowing the trajectories of puerperae who maintain the contraindication to breastfeeding is of fundamental importance to provide subsidies for understanding the experience, difficulties and overcoming that these mothers face, thus the research contributes to obtaining more knowledge about the theme discussed, thus favoring a broad view of the importance of research of this nature for nursing professionals.
