The RECATEGORIZATION OF THE FEMALE, MARRIAGE AND DEATH, IN THE POEM DADDY, BY SYLVIA PLATH

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the poem Papai, by Sylvia Plath, recognizing the process of recategorizing the elements: feminine, marriage and death, found in her writing, based on principles of Textual Linguistics. For this, the analysis was based on the concept of text by Beaugrande (1997), resignification and recategorization of elements by Mondada and Dubois (1994), the construction of coherence by Marcuschi (2007), notion of context by Bentes and Rezende (2008). a complex reading of Franco (2011). This research is qualitative in nature because it tries to understand the phenomenon of the recategorization of elements within the text, emphasizing the importance of the interpretations of this event in the re-signification process. In addition to being qualitative, since this study is characterized by being a documentary research, since it used a document, the book Ariel (2018) and Wagner - Martin (1988), as a source of information. Thus, it was found that both the reading and writing process are interactive and the text emerges from these various interactions between elements, from the analysis of these objects of discourse that were recategorized and act in the poem.
