Abstract

The article investigates the phenomenological appropriation of the Aristotelian concepts of phrónesis (practical wisdom) and euboulía (good deliberation-making) carried out by Martin Heidegger in his lecture course Plato's Sophist (1924–1925). Departing from strictly moral, formal, or traditional exegetical interpretations, this study defends the thesis that practical deliberation guided by situational wisdom does not constitute a mere rigid system of abstract norms. Instead, it represents a disclosure that enables a decision-making process against the ambiguity and idle talk promoted by public opinion (dóxa). Through an ontological restructuring of the connections between the principle (arkhé) and the finality of action (télos), the young German philosopher prefigures the existential concept of resoluteness (Entschlossenheit), thereby consolidating practical discourse as a necessary counter-discourse in the face of the temporal finitude of factical existence.
