Abstract

This present study aims to discuss the lack of inclusion of foreigners, specially venezuelans, in Brazil's liberal democracy. This study starts presenting the political and social context that influenced venezuelan immigration between 2017 and 2018. After that a theoretical framework about the liberal democracy's crisis (CASTELLS, 2017) and the idea of political participation (MOUFFE, 2006; PATEMAN, 1992) is shown, along with an insight about the political exclusion of immigrants through news created by Brazilian media and national laws that limit these immigrants. Lastly there's the Conclusion, which claims that immigrants are unable to use their social and political rights in consequence of legal, social and cultural barriers that restrain them from participating.
