Assistência Social e o Benefício de Prestação Continuada para idosos no Rio de Janeiro

O artigo analisa os serviços assistenciais do Sistema Único de Assistencial Social (SUAS) para idosos beneficiários do Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC). Os dados são parte de pesquisa sobre Assistência Social e o BPC realizada com o apoio da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro - Faperj. Foram pesquisados 21 municípios fluminenses, a partir de questionários a beneficiários, profissionais de Centros Referência da Assistência Social (CRAS) e gestores da assistência social. Para este artigo destacam-se os resultados relativos a necessidades de beneficiários, a utilização dos serviços por parte desses usuários e a avaliação desses serviços segundo os distintos segmentos investigados. Os resultados indicam a expansão da presença da assistência social nos municípios, mas uma ainda frágil estrutura de serviços disponíveis aos beneficiários idosos do BPC.
