Abstract

To understand how the issue of HIV/AIDS transmission occurs among young Brazilian individuals. An integrative review was carried out from 2015 to 2019. The following databases were adopted: BVS, SciELO, MEDLINE, BDENF, CVSP – Brasil and Index Psicology, together with the descriptors “HIV”, “Jovens” (Young) and “Brasil” (Brazil). In addition to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a methodological sequence was used for the selection and critical analysis of articles. Subsequently, the information was organized and presented. 8 articles were selected from a total of 144. It was evident that young people lack knowledge about condom use and HIV, in contrast, even among those who have access to information, a low frequency of use was observed of condoms. Low schooling and the existence of multiple sexual partners, more common behavior in males than females, proved to be at risk. Socioeconomic differences are preponderant when it comes to the spread of the virus, in addition, the sex education offered publicly does not present an effective approach. It is necessary to adopt a generalized posture devoid of sexist ideals, as well as, more studies with methodological approaches measures that go beyond the biological, understanding the social aspects, how they influence risky behavior and how they can assist in prevention.
