Sustainability in the Hands of the Future

a Teaching Proposal for Fifth Grade Elementary School Students

Abstract

In this article, we propose a teaching method on sustainability, aimed at fifth-grade students of the EMEIEF “Vital Lucas”, located in the city of Rio Novo do Sul – ES, aiming at the formation of conscious and responsible citizens, which necessarily involves environmental education. Thus, this research presents a series of didactic activities that discuss principles of sustainability, such as: recycling, saving natural resources and safeguarding biodiversity. The expected results include an increase in environmental awareness, changes in behavior and the improvement of critical skills in students. The methodological approach was based on action and reflection, incorporating educational games, field projects and practical tasks. Therefore, the aim is not only to inform, but also to change the perception of students about their contribution to the sustainability of the planet.
