Teaching and Learning Geographical Concepts from a Historical-Cultural Perspective

Abstract

This paper aims to address geographical concepts such as geographical space, landscape, place, territory and region for the understanding of scientific concepts that are used and mobilized in the teaching and learning of final years of basic education. It is important in the school environment that the teacher pays attention and takes into consideration the space lived by the students, taking advantage of the previous conceptual knowledge that the student carries with him so that he himself through the mediation of the teacher and, social relationship with other students can reelaborate and strengthen the newly attributed concepts meanings. We will bring the contribution and proximity of Vigotski's historical-cultural theory to the voice of Cavalcanti (2005) for geography teaching. The present study will be based methodologically on a bibliographic wedge research to deal with reflections around the concepts of the area of ​​geography teaching.
