O lugar das políticas sociais no capitalismo contemporâneo

Este artigo trata das políticas sociais no capitalismo contemporâneo. Para isso, parte-se da análise das determinações do desenvolvimento do Welfare State – o que é precedida pela apresentação das principais teorias explicativas desse processo. A seguir, são apresentados os traços maiores do capitalismo contemporâneo, principalmente do capital dito financeiro, e analisadas as implicações da dominância desse tipo de capital em termos de produção, emprego, renda e políticas sociais. Conclui-se que não é do interesse desse capital manter políticas sociais organizadas e financiadas pelo Estado do tipo daquelas construídas no Welfare State, é que as mesmas, mais do que antes, dependem da força organizativa de seus interessados maiores para continuarem a existir, os trabalhadores.
