Inicialmente gostaria de registrar o imenso prazer em dialogar com duas pessoas pelas quais tenho um profundo respeito. Participar de um debate com um reconhecido mestre como o Professor Vicente Faleiros é um desafio e ao mesmo tempo, motivo de orgulho. No Serviço Social, amadurecemos intelectual e profissionalmente em contato com autores, dentre os quais Faleiros é referência obrigatória. Faleiros merece respeito, sobretudo, pela coragem e firmeza na defesa de suas posições. Karla Giacomin, a outra debatedora nesta seção, é uma figura reconhecida e prestigiada no meio profissional da Geriatria. Conheci Giacomin em congressos de Geriatria e Gerontologia e sempre me impressionei com a forma envolvente, contundente e provocadora como expõe as suas questões. Trata-se de uma médica com profunda sensibilidade social constituindo-se, portanto, em uma referência altamente qualificada para este debate.

4.
