Submission Preparation Checklist

  1. Registration: The author must register on the journal's system and update their profile, including mandatory ORCID.

  2. Online Submission: Submission is made exclusively through the system, declaring that the manuscript is original and is not under evaluation in another journal, except in cases of duly declared preprint.

  3. Compliance: Verify that all checklist requirements have been met, including the correct attachment of all files (main text, tables, figures, etc.).

Formatting Guidelines

Template: The manuscript must be formatted according to the journal's official template.

Language: Texts are accepted in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Italian.

Anonymity: To ensure double-blind peer review, it is essential to remove any authorship identification from file properties and the body of the text. In the case of preprint submissions, the evaluation will be single-blind.

Metadata: Title, abstract, and keywords must be provided in the original language of the article and mandatorily in English.

References: Must follow ABNT standards, ensuring that all cited DOIs are active and linked.

Preprints: The journal encourages the prior deposit of manuscripts in trusted preprint servers (e.g., SciELO Preprints). The preprint DOI must be informed at submission.

Peer Review Process

The journal adopts the Double-Blind Peer Review system for most submissions, ensuring mutual anonymity of authors and reviewers. In cases of preprint submission, the evaluation will be single-blind. The process generally follows these steps:

  1. Initial Screening (Desk Review): The Editor-in-Chief and/or Section Editors assess the manuscript's suitability for the journal's scope, compliance with formatting standards, and absence of plagiarism. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage.

  2. Reviewer Assignment: Manuscripts approved in the initial screening are sent to at least two reviewers who are experts in the field (external to the authors' institution).

  3. External Review: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript for originality, relevance, methodology, clarity, and scientific rigor, providing a detailed and constructive review.

  4. Editorial Decision: Based on the reviews, the editors decide on: acceptance, mandatory revisions, re-submission for a new review round, or rejection. In case of significant divergence between reviews, a third reviewer may be consulted.

  5. Communication to Authors: The editorial decision, accompanied by the reviews (anonymized in the case of double-blind), is communicated to the authors.
