The Journal invites submissions for a thematic issue devoted to political readings of Johann Gottlieb Fichte’s work, with particular attention to the plurality of interpretations that have developed across Europe and the Americas. Far from constituting a uniform field, the relationship between philosophy and politics in Fichte has emerged as a space of divergent readings, often connected to different theoretical traditions, historical contexts, and intellectual practices. In this sense, “reading Fichte politically” entails not only analyzing the explicitly political content of his work, but also investigating the ways in which his thought has been interpreted, mobilized, and transformed. From this perspective, the issue also welcomes contributions exploring a line of inquiry according to which Fichte himself may be considered a political reader of other authors. Building on this approach — found, among others, in the interpretations of Rubens Rodrigues Torres Filho — contributors are invited to investigate, for example, the ways in which Johann Gottlieb Fichte reads Niccolò Machiavelli politically, as well as other authors, highlighting processes of conceptual selection, reworking, and rearticulation. The issue also welcomes contributions addressing the role of the transcendental in Fichte’s philosophy, both as a domain of theoretical foundation and in terms of its possible implications for political reflection. Without constituting an exclusive focus, this perspective makes it possible to investigate the relationship between conditions of possibility, subjectivity, and political order, as well as the ways in which these dimensions have been interpreted in different contexts. The issue thus aims to explore these questions from a comparative and transnational perspective, paying particular attention to differences among interpretive traditions, controversies, and forms of appropriation of Fichte’s thought.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Manuscripts must be submitted by April 1, 2027, exclusively through the journal’s OJS platform. Authors are required to register or log in and then upload the requested materials.
The maximum length for articles is 10,000 words. The journal’s preferred languages are English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. The “Varia” section of the Rivista di studi su Fichte welcomes contributions that are thematically independent of the thematic section featured in each issue of the journal. Submissions may be sent to the editorial team at any time, regardless of the deadlines associated with the thematic Call for Papers. Contributions must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s OJS platform. Authors must register or log in and then upload the required materials. Articles must not exceed 10,000 words. The journal’s preferred languages are Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese; however, contributions in French, English, and German are also accepted. For citation and bibliographic reference formatting, please consult the publication guidelines on the journal’s website. Please use the provided template when preparing your manuscript.
Contributions (max. 10,000 words) must be submitted anonymously through the OJS platform under the VARIA section. Submissions must be accompanied by an abstract (max. 1,000 characters, including spaces) and 5 keywords. In addition to English, submissions may be written in Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian. All contributions will undergo double-blind peer review.
