Submission Preparation Checklist
Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the online platform of the Journal of Fichte Studies. The submission process consists of the following steps.
Registration. Authors must register on the journal's platform and complete their profile, including their ORCID identifier.
Manuscript submission. Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal's online submission system. During the submission process, authors must declare that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal, except in the case of manuscripts previously deposited as preprints and declared in accordance with the journal's editorial policy.
Final verification. Before completing the submission, authors should ensure that all the requirements listed in the manuscript preparation checklist have been met and that all required files have been uploaded correctly.
MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION GUIDELINES
To facilitate the editorial process and ensure consistency across submissions, authors are requested to comply with the following guidelines.
Template. Manuscripts must be prepared exclusively using the official template of the Journal of Fichte Studies. This template is intended solely for the submission, review, and editorial revision stages and does not reflect the final published layout of the article. The final typeset version will be prepared by the editorial team during the copyediting stage.
Language. The journal primarily publishes contributions in English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Manuscripts in German and French may also be considered following prior consultation with the Editors.
Anonymity. Manuscripts submitted to the Thematic and Varia sections are subject to double-blind peer review and must therefore be fully anonymized. All information that could identify the author(s) must be removed from both the manuscript and the file properties.
For manuscripts previously deposited as preprints, the evaluation will be conducted according to the single-blind peer review procedure, in accordance with the journal's editorial policy.
Metadata. For manuscripts submitted to the Thematic and Varia sections, the title, abstract, and keywords must be provided both in the original language of the manuscript and in English. The editorial requirements for the journal's other sections are governed by their respective guidelines.
References. Citations and references must comply with the journal's editorial guidelines. All DOIs included in the reference list must be active and correctly linked to the cited publications.
Preprints. The Journal of Fichte Studies encourages authors to deposit manuscripts in reliable, internationally recognized preprint repositories, particularly SciELO Preprints. The deposit may be made before or simultaneously with the submission of the manuscript. At the time of submission, authors must provide the DOI of the preprint and upload the manuscript using the journal's official template.
Thematic Section
The Thematic Section features contributions devoted to the topic announced in each Call for Papers. Manuscripts must be submitted within the deadline specified in the relevant call and are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process.
Varia
The Varia section welcomes original historiographical or theoretical articles devoted to Johann Gottlieb Fichte's philosophy and related topics. Manuscripts may be submitted at any time throughout the year, independently of the Call for Papers deadlines, and are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process.
Translations
The Translations section publishes original translations of texts by Johann Gottlieb Fichte, by authors relevant to Fichte studies and the tradition of German Idealism, as well as translations of scholarly essays of particular academic interest. Submissions must comply with applicable copyright regulations. Through this section, the journal seeks to promote the dissemination of significant texts that are not yet available in the journal's publication languages.
Reviews
The Reviews section welcomes book reviews, review essays, and critical surveys devoted to monographs, scholarly editions, translations, edited volumes, and other publications of particular relevance to Fichte studies. Its aim is to foster the international circulation of scholarship by making important works and academic debates accessible across the journal's different publication languages.
Discussions
The Discussions section provides a forum for scholarly debate on interpretative, methodological, and historiographical issues related to Johann Gottlieb Fichte's philosophy and associated fields of research. It welcomes short contributions, replies, critical notes, clarifications, and discussions of articles or topics of particular interest to the academic community. The section also publishes reports and notices on conferences, workshops, seminars, research projects, and other academic initiatives, with the aim of fostering dialogue among scholars and promoting the activities of the international research community.
