Morfossintaxe. Semântica.

Abstract: This study examines the process of building idioms with the Verb + name, which, through the extension of the metaphorical sense, contribute to the understanding of the meaning of texts. Its main theoretical  assumption is the theory of the lexicon-grammar (GROSS, 1975, 1986). Some formal criteria of morphosyntactic-order semantics and processing are applied for the identification of the structures, whose purpose is to keep the initial sense of the sentence. These criteria facilitate the investigation of the linguist in relation to the delimitation of certain items when facing aspects of compositionality, linguistic intuition, in addition to the ambiguity that can interfere in the trial of acceptability.

Keywords: non-compositionality. Idioms. Morphosyntax. Semantics
