Introduction:
Femoral hernias represent approximately 2% to 8% of hernias in the inguinal region and are more common in adult women. Even rarer is the herniation of uterine adnexa. There are few reports in the literature regarding the herniation of these structures in adult women, as they are more common in children and are mostly associated with congenital abnormalities of the genital tract. Objective: To report an extremely rare case of incarcerated femoral hernia containing the fallopian tube. Methods: Descriptive and retrospective study consisting of a case report based on medical record evaluation and literature review. Results: There were no complications related to the surgical procedure. The patient had a satisfactory recovery during hospitalization and was discharged 24 hours after the procedure. Conclusion: Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are essential for a good prognosis in femoral hernias. In female patients, the herniation of uterine adnexa should always be considered. Prompt surgical treatment can prevent the resection of these uterine structures, preserving fertility in women of reproductive age.
