The article addresses one of the contributions to society of a Graduate Programme in Social Work (PPGSS): the qualification process for people in the area of public policy. The resumes of 224 graduates from the PPGSS-UFPA, available on the Lattes platform database, were mapped over a 21-year period (1998-2019). Documentary analysis was utilised to understand the professional performance of graduates and to parametrise the social impact and regional introduction of the programme. One of the main results verifies that the majority of graduates concentrated on management and professional delivery of public policies, that is, in the area of knowledge production. Social Service occupies a fundamental role in this, due to its understanding of and proposals for responses to social issues.
