The present paper explores the concept of work of art as daily or waking dream in Sigmund Freud, concept especially present in his essay The poet and the phantasy, We started from a reading of the determinations of this concept in the body of the text, linking it with the concepts of poet and phantasy. In addition, we carried out an exploration of the concept of dream in general in Freud’s work. For such, we read The interpretation of dreams, where we found early considerations of the theme, as well as details on formations of dreams, explaining some of its formal procedures, which we interpret under the key of poetic creation.
