Author Guidelines

General recommendations to authors

  • Journal Template
  • The submission and eventual publication of papers are free of charge.
  • All papers, reviews and research notes must be submitted without citing the authors in the text or filename. Articles that do not comply with the following rules will be rejected and must be adapted for submission.
  • Papers from undergraduate students will not be accepted. We do not accept papers derived from undergraduate courses.
  • Authors cannot publish more than one article in Geografares every three years.
  • Plagiarism and self-plagiarism (when authors change some superficial aspects of texts already published in other journals to republish them) are prohibited. If we do, the authors will no longer be eligible for submissions to the journal.
  • All articles must indicate in the authors' section of the submission whether the article presents partial or final results; identify any associated research groups and/or laboratories; indicate whether they are publicly funded; and whether they are derived from master's or doctoral theses. Submissions will be rejected if they do not follow these rules.
  • Authors must provide their ORCID number. ORCID is a non-profit organization that enables everyone involved in research and innovation to be uniquely identified and connected. To obtain your ORCID number, visit the link https://orcid.org/register
  • Biographical information is required in the metadata for authors. The biography must include information about the author's education and institutional affiliations, as well as any previous or ongoing research.
  • Titles, abstracts and keywords in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French must be included in the metadata when submitting papers.
  • Titles must be in lowercase except at the beginning of a sentence, with proper names, and acronyms.
  • Figures, maps, photos, graphics and flowcharts included in the body of the text must be sent separately at a minimum quality of 300 DPI.
  • Geografares is a geography journal that is in dialog with other fields of study. Its scope is focused on discussing territorial and spatial issues, so the articles should focus on these categories. Papers from other fields that do not meet these requirements will be rejected.
  • The normal time for reviewing an article is up to 6 months from receiving to approval.
  • -Contributions are accepted in Portuguese, Spanish and French.
  • Guidelines for the English version of the approved papers: Authors who have their paper accepted by the journal may provide an English version, at their own expense. These translations must be done by professionals appointed by the journal, who must certify the paper's conformity in English. The author must send it along with the translation by the deadline specified by the editors.
