Rural Education and Collective Memory: Limitations and Possibilities of Rural Schools
Abstract
The investigation examines the limits and possibilities of the Schools of Campo de Japeri / RJ as promoters and mediators in the construction of collective memories of the peasant movements that occurred between the 1940s and 1970s. The problem is the perception of the presence of these memories in pedagogical practices. General objective: recognize in school practices the presence of collective memories of peasant movements in Japeri. Specific objectives:conjecture about the limits and possibilities of these schools as promoters and mediators in the construction of collective memories; know and understand the educational practices of these schools; think of Rural Education as an instrument for building collective memories. The development of the discussion is composed of three aspects.The investigation is based on quantitative research, aggregating elements of bibliographic and oral history research, produced from the perspective of participant observation. Theoretically dialogues with Paulo Freire and Pierre Bourdieu. As a result, the research detected difficulties of the teachers of the school observed in understanding and promoting pedagogical actions that refer to the memory of the region in the period studied. In this context, the memory of the local community was erased. The importance of Rural Education as an instrument for building collective memories was confirmed.
