Transição energética para a sustentabilidade no Chile e no Brasil: Oportunidades e desafios decorrentes da pandemia por Covid-19

Resumo

O presente artigo busca explorar, de forma interdisciplinar, a influência da pandemia por Covid-19 na transição energética para a sustentabilidade que experimentam o Chile e o Brasil no século XXI. Subsequentemente, apresentam-se as principais oportunidades e desafios sociais, ambientais e técnicos que determinarão o desenvolvimento dos sistemas elétricos de ambos os países após superada a crise sanitária. Comprova-se a correlação fortemente positiva entre o Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) e a geração de eletricidade em ambos os países no decorrer do presente século. Assim, as quedas experimentadas no PIB o ano 2020 tiveram consequência na produção elétrica. No entanto, as energias renováveis não convencionais solar e eólica continuaram crescendo no seu aporte à produção de eletricidade, e em consequência, foram experimentadas quedas na geração termoelétrica e hidrelétrica. Por último, corrobora-se que nos próximos anos, elementos tais como a agenda mundial para a sustentabilidade, as variações no ciclo da água, a participação e empoderamento cidadão, os custos das tecnologias, a influência da eletricidade no desenvolvimento humano, e os conflitos socioambientais decorrentes da construção de infraestrutura energética serão agentes chave nos setores elétricos do Chile e do Brasil
