Abstract

Abstract: In this article, we propose a reflection on how the polemic in its argumentative aspect (AMOSSY, 2017) is materialized and updated in comments on the social network Facebook. To this end, we selected, on the UOL page, on March 17, 2021, the motivating post and Webnews, entitled "OPPOSITION DELIVERS IMPEACHMENT REQUEST BY BOLSONARO TO THE CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES, and we constituted sixteen (16) comments to it as object of analysis. motivating post. Thus, considering the relevance of analytical categories of Textual Linguistics, we chose referencing and intertextuality as possible textual criteria to be mobilized for the analysis of argumentativity in interactions that participate in the controversial debate and we assume the assumption that argumentation, according to Amossy (2017 , 2020) and Cabral (2019,2018), is situated in a framework in which the subjects seek to act on each other. Based on the analyzes undertaken, we can conclude that referents (discourse objects) and intertextual relations i) contribute to the establishment, maintenance and updating of the polemic interaction and ii) constitute, in the controversial game, relevant strategies of verbal violence, reinforcing the dichotomous character of the polemic.
