Introduction: Violence against women is defined as any act or conduct that causes death, harm, or physical, sexual, psychological, economic, or moral suffering. Objective: To describe, in the literature, the forms of comprehensive healthcare provided to women who are victims of domestic violence. Methods: This is a qualitative and descriptive literature review aimed at understanding the importance and complexity of the topic. The databases used included the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Google Scholar, and the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), covering the period from 2013 to 2023. Results: The impacts of violence often result in irreversible harm to victims. Although numerous organizations focus on supporting women who have suffered abuse, there is still a pressing need for more practical and effective prevention and protection measures. These are essential for overcoming the daily obstacles faced by women trying to escape situations of intimate partner violence. Conclusion: Healthcare professionals play a fundamental role in comprehensive care, often being the first point of contact for victims of sexual and domestic violence. However, they frequently lack adequate training to deal directly with such cases, making continuous education and specialization essential. Preventing and combating violence against women is a highly complex task and must be addressed through public policies that promote the articulation of services within an integrated care network for women in situations of violence.
