Alexandria Ptolomaica na perspectiva de uma História Global

Alexandria foi fundada no litoral mediterrânico egípcio pelo rei Alexandre III da Macedônia no início da sua campanha contra o Império Persa-Aquemênida (332/331 AEC). Nas décadas seguintes, a cidade litorânea substituiu Mênfis como a sede do poder monárquico no Egito. Seu desenvolvimento reconfigurou a dinâmica urbana e política no antigo território nilótico e formalizou a presença grega no Delta, nesse momento por meio de sua inserção também no comando egípcio. Em diálogo com as recentes perspectivas da História Global, a expectativa do presente artigo é repensar a história de Alexandria discutindo de que forma a fundação e história inicial da cidade a tornaram um local propício à mobilidade e entrelaçamentos.
