“What happened to you?” instead of “What is wrong with you?”: student health in Brazilian federal universities

O texto de Iain Ferguson Capitalismo, coronavírus e sofrimento mental nos provoca a pensar criticamente sobre os efeitos e os impactos na saúde mental associados à crise sanitária do coronavírus, na medida em que o autor não faz concessões aos processos de medicalização, biologização e psiquiatrização da vida tão caros ao modelo biomédico privatista. Ao contrário, através de uma análise de conjuntura marcada por eventos traumáticos socialmente produzidos (guerras, violências de gênero e de raça etc.), demonstra as potencialidades e os limites das tentativas de enunciar o que seja o sofrimento mental e como gerar respostas coerentes com as suas determinações. De forma secundária, o texto problematiza se a própria experiência da pandemia do coronavírus poderia ser tomado com um evento traumático capaz de gerar efeitos consignados como Transtorno de Estresse Pós-Traumático (TEPT).
