Perfil epidemiológico de los pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico en la ciudad de Vitória - Espírito Santo

El lupus eritematoso sistémico (LES) es una enfermedad autoinmune crónica caracterizada por períodos de remisión y recaída. Los pacientes con LES sufren un curso de enfermedad crónica cargado de comorbilidades multiorgánicas. Los estudios epidemiológicos sobre LES son muy escasos en Brasil, principalmente en el estado de Espírito Santo. Ante esa escasez de datos epidemiológicos, el presente estudio realizó una investigación epidemiológica en pacientes con LES, caracterizando las causas de mortalidad en el municipio de Vitória entre 2009 y 2019, utilizando la base de datos DATASUS. Según el análisis de las muertes de pacientes con LES ocurridas en Vitória (n=269), las principales causas básicas de muerte fueron enfermedades del sistema musculoesquelético y del tejido conectivo, enfermedades infecciosas y parasitarias, enfermedades del sistema respiratorio, enfermedades del sistema circulatorio y enfermedades del sistema genitourinario, que en conjunto representaron el 84,39% de los registros de defunción. El sexo femenino tuvo mayor número de muertes en comparación con los hombres, los resultados fueron significativos para mujeres de etnia morena y blanca, con edades entre 10-49 años, además, este grupo de edad tuvo el mayor número de muertes en Vitória. De las 269 muertes registradas, 182 son de pacientes que no viven en Vitória, lo que demuestra que muchos municipios de Espírito Santo aún no cuentan con especialistas para ese tipo de atención y faltan servicios de salud más complejos para atenderlos en las ciudades en el interior de Espírito Santo.
