Case study on illiteracy in a community in the field

Abstract

The proposed discussion is the result of research carried out in a community in the rural perimeter of the municipality of Rodelas / Bahia, whose main objective is to investigate the causes of the illiteracy situation of farmers, reflecting the main consequences of this phenomenon in the lives of actors and actresses who reside in the countryside. The growing map of hunger, underemployment, the precarious conditions of school institutions, the limited access to basic education schools due to the lack of transportation, are aggravating factors that confirm this harsh reality. The methodological path used in this investigation presents a qualitative and quantitative approach in field research, with the case study using the methodology adopted. It is a research that describes the phenomena of illiteracy from the perspective of people who live with this problem and feel the consequences of this fact in their lives. As a data collection instrument, semi-structured interviews and closed questionnaires were used.
