This article investigated the influence of reading delight as an incentive for reading in elementary school students at a kindergarten and elementary school in the municipality of Presidente Kennedy, south of Espírito Santo. Three classes of 2nd year of elementary school participated in the research with their respective teachers and assistants. The general objective of this study was to analyze whether reading pleasure works as a way of stimulating reading with students of the 2nd year of elementary school. Data collection was carried out at a polo school in the interior of the municipality. As a collection procedure, the research instruments and strategies were used: document analysis, semi-structured interviews and observation in the classroom. To support the analysis of collected data, the contributions of the following authors were based: Gil (2008) for methodology, Freire (2015), Zilberman (2001) and Cosson (2007) - for reading, Kleiman (1989) Souza (2012 ) - for reading strategies, Brazil (2012) - for the National Pact at the Right Age, Warschauer (1993), Riter (2009) and Paiva (2010) - for reading delight. Based on the analyzes performed, the delight reading takes place two to three times a week, this reading was done using the voice, the intonation and the way of expressing yourself at the time of the same. From this reading, we sought to find out if it has generated in children an interest in books and imagination beyond the walls of the school. It is concluded that reading delight has contributed significantly to the student's life, making the student have reading as a very important item in his life, seeking in reading a moment of pleasure, fun and knowledge for the world, in addition to contributing to teacher training, when applying what has been studied in its practice, this is for both children who are already literate and those who are being literate.
