Introduction: The spiritual dimension occupies an important space in the context of coping with diseases and in health care. In this context, different scales are validated and used to assess spiritual health care. Objectives: To verify the applicability of the Spiritual Care Competence Scale in the scope of spiritual care performed by the nursing team. Methods: This is an integrative review of articles published in the last five years (2017-2022) in the databases of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), the Virtual Health Library (BVS) and the CAPES Periodicals. Results: Fifteen articles were included which revealed the context of application of the scale and its main results. Conclusion: The Spiritual Care Competence Scale is a valid, reliable instrument used in different countries. Despite the limitation of the study having searched in specific databases, the results revealed the relevance of religiosity/spirituality in patient care, however, there are still difficulties in the communication process, lack of resources and training aimed at spiritual care. The findings allow us to affirm that the use of SCCS enables the assessment of competences aimed at spiritual care, indicating points to be strengthened and developed by the health team, in different cultural contexts. It is noteworthy that the validation of SCCS in the Brazilian context is still recent, so it is expected that its applicability will be more fruitful at the national level.
