Prática médica e cura no Egito Antigo ou
o que pode ser feito em quatro dias?

O presente artigo considera quais períodos de tempo aparecem nos textos médicos do Egito Antigo e por que esses períodos específi cos de tempo são mencionados, uma problemática que tem sido abordada parcimoniosamente na literatura até então. O estudo fornece uma análise quantitativa dos períodos de tempo em seu contexto textual e examina a que o período de tempo de “quatro dias” poderia potencialmente se referir, dado o conhecimento médico atual sobre o tópico da cura. O estudo considera uma gama de teorias sobre os períodos de tempo, fazendo referência a dois estudos de caso: um sobre os períodos de tempo no Papiro médico Hearst e outro sobre períodos de tempo diferentes de quatro dias ao longo do corpus médico faraônico. Ele também considera o contexto mítico do número quatro e conclui com uma visão geral sobre se as mudanças nas tradições médicas e religiosas após o período faraônico levaram ao uso de novos números nos textos de cura.
