Archaeology and ritual: places of devotion in Roman Palestine

This article analyzes the ceramic material (oil lamps) from three defined archaeological contexts: Caesarea Maritime, Apollonia and Caesarea Philippi, and the ritual practices found in these sites during the Roman period in Palestine. Also considers how hegemonies and systemic shifts in meanings, rituals and devotional places could take place in the transformations of landscape at Roman Palestine.
