Abstract

This article explores Gregory the Great’s position in relation to the Pauline idea of conversion of the Jews at the end of time enunciated in Epistle to Romans 11, 25-26. The research shows that Gregory follows the Pauline text only in his exegetical texts – Moralia, Homiliae in Hiezechihelem and Homiliae in Evangelia – while the topic of the final conversion doesn’t emerge in the rest of his works. This can be understood if we take into account that Gregory referred – in his exegetical works – to hermeneutical Jews while in the others texts – among which the Registrum epistularum stands out for its explicit mentions to Jewish communities – the emphasis was on historical Jews.
